Christmas Hat Pattern

  1. Follow the specified rows for knitting and purling using colors A and B as indicated.
  2. Begin decreasing with the right side of the work facing you, according to the provided instructions.

Finishing

  1. Complete the final rows and decrease as outlined in the pattern.
  2. Sew the seam together using a ladder stitch for a neat finish.

Let’s begin the I-cord cast on for the Christmas hat

  1. Cast on 3 stitches—any cast-on method you prefer.
  2. Knit 3 stitches, then slip these 3 stitches back onto the left needle.
  3. Knit these 3 stitches again, repeating until you have 111 repeats.

Dekretasing for larger bean hoppers

  • The steps above are for a beanie to fit the Barista Express (BES870).
  • If you have a coffee machine with a larger hopper than the Barista Express, like the Barista Touch Impress (BES881) or the Oracle Jet (BES985), you will need an extra 2cm in diameter for the beanie to fit properly. Please follow the steps below instead.
  • When doing the I-cord cast on, you add 8 more stitches—leaving you with a total of 122 stitches on the needle.

FAQ

What should I do if I have a coffee machine with a larger hopper than the Barista Express?

If you have a coffee machine with a larger hopper, such as the Barista Touch Impress BES881 or Oracle Jet BES985, you will need to add an extra 2cm in diameter for the beanie to fit properly. Follow the modified steps provided in the manual for the larger bean hoppers.
