This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and proper use of the Flame King Propane Refill Fitting Adapter Valve. This adapter is designed to facilitate the refilling of Flame King 1LB, 1/2LB, and 1/4LB refillable propane cylinders from a larger 20LB propane tank. Using refillable cylinders helps reduce waste and offers a cost-effective alternative to disposable canisters.

Setup

1. Prepare the Refill Stand (if using): If you have a Flame King refill stand, assemble it according to its instructions. This stand is designed to securely hold the larger propane tank inverted, which is crucial for efficient liquid propane transfer.
2. Position the Larger Propane Tank: Place your larger 20LB propane tank securely in the refill stand, ensuring it is inverted. If not using a stand, carefully invert the tank on a stable, flat surface.
3. Connect the Adapter to the Larger Tank: Screw the QCC valve connector (the larger, black knob end) of the refill adapter onto the valve of the inverted 20LB propane tank. Hand-tighten until snug.
4. Connect the 1LB Refillable Cylinder: Screw the CGA600 valve connector (the smaller, brass end) of the refill adapter onto the valve of your empty Flame King 1LB refillable cylinder. Hand-tighten until snug. Ensure the 1LB cylinder is positioned upright and stable.
5. Ensure Outdoor Use: Confirm that all connections are secure and you are in a well-ventilated outdoor area, away from any ignition sources.

Operating Instructions (Refilling Process)

Follow these steps carefully to refill your Flame King 1LB refillable propane cylinder:

1. Open the Large Tank Valve: Slowly open the valve on the larger 20LB propane tank. You may hear a slight hiss as propane begins to flow into the adapter.
2. Activate the EZ Lever: Press and hold the EZ lever on the refill adapter. This will allow propane to flow into the 1LB cylinder. You will hear the gas transferring and may notice the 1LB cylinder getting cold.
3. Bleed Air (if necessary): If your 1LB cylinder is completely empty, it may contain air. Use a small hex key (often included with refillable cylinders) to briefly open the bleed screw on the 1LB cylinder to release trapped air. Close the bleed screw once liquid propane starts to escape (a white mist).
4. Monitor Filling: Continue holding the EZ lever. The filling process typically takes 1-2 minutes. The 1LB cylinder will become noticeably heavier as it fills. Do not overfill; the EZ lever helps prevent this by automatically pinching off fuel flow when released.
5. Release EZ Lever and Close Tank Valve: Once the 1LB cylinder is sufficiently filled (or after about 1-2 minutes), release the EZ lever. Then, close the valve on the larger 20LB propane tank.
6. Disconnect Cylinders: Carefully unscrew the 1LB refillable cylinder from the adapter, then unscrew the adapter from the 20LB tank. There may be a small amount of residual gas released during disconnection; this is normal.
