This section details the steps required to properly wire the Leviton 5266-B plug to an electrical cable.

- Prepare the Plug:
Using a Phillips head screwdriver, loosen the quick-release screws on the faceplate of the plug. Carefully remove the faceplate from the body housing.

Loosen the two strain relief screws on the plug's body housing. Feed the electrical cable through the strain relief and into the body housing. Strip the cord jacket according to the diagram provided in the instruction sheet (typically 1.5 inches). Remove the cord jacket to expose the individual wires.

The green (ground) wire needs to be approximately 1 inch long. Use wire strippers to cut the green wire to the appropriate length.
- Strip Individual Wires:
Strip approximately 5/8 inch of insulation from all individual wires (green, white, and any hot wires). Twist the strands of each wire tightly to prevent fraying.

Loosen the green ground screw located in the center of the faceplate. Insert the stripped green (ground) wire into the wire well of the green terminal. Tighten the terminal screw securely.
- Connect the Neutral Wire:

- Connect Hot Wires:
Loosen the brass terminal screws. Insert the remaining stripped wires (hot wires, typically black or red) into the wire wells of the brass terminals. Tighten the terminal screws securely.

Align the channel guide on the body housing with the faceplate. Slide the faceplate into the body housing. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, tighten the quick-release screws on the faceplate to secure it to the body housing.
- Tighten Strain Relief:

- Note for Larger Wires:
If your cable is larger than the groove on the strain relief, a section of the strain relief can be removed to accommodate larger wire gauges.
