Uvod

This manual provides instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your AudioOrigin Moving Magnet Cartridge and Stylus. This high-quality audio component is designed to deliver excellent, warm sound and is compatible with a range of vintage Hitachi turntables, including models HT50S, HT20S, HT21, HT405, HT65S, HT67, HT68, HTM50, HT40S, HT41S, HT45, and HT500.

Please read these instructions carefully before proceeding with installation to ensure proper setup and optimal performance.

Setup

2. Mounting the Cartridge

1. Carefully align the cartridge with the mounting holes on your headshell.
2. Insert the brass mounting bolts through the headshell and into the cartridge body. Secure them loosely with the nuts.
3. Do not fully tighten the bolts yet, as you may need to adjust the cartridge position for alignment.

Connect the four color-coded wires from your tonearm to the corresponding pins on the back of the cartridge. Ensure a firm but gentle connection. The standard color code is:

• Red: Right Channel Hot (R+)
• Green: Right Channel Ground (RG-)
• White: Left Channel Hot (L+)
• Blue: Left Channel Ground (LG-)

4. Stylus Installation (if not pre-installed)

If the stylus is separate, carefully hold the cartridge body and gently slide the stylus assembly onto the front of the cartridge until it clicks securely into place. Ensure the stylus guard is in place during this step to protect the tip.

The recommended tracking force for this cartridge is between 2.5 and 3.5 grams. Use a reliable tracking force gauge to set the downforce accurately. Incorrect tracking force can lead to poor sound quality and premature stylus wear.

6. Cartridge Alignment

For optimal sound reproduction and to minimize record wear, proper cartridge alignment is crucial. This involves setting the overhang and zenith. Refer to your turntable's manual or an alignment protractor for detailed instructions on how to achieve correct alignment. Once aligned, fully tighten the mounting bolts.

Once the cartridge is properly installed and aligned, you can begin playing records.

1. Ensure the stylus guard is removed before playing.

Cartridge Body Cleaning

Wipe the cartridge body with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to remove dust.

The stylus is a consumable part and will wear out over time, typically after 500-1000 hours of play, depending on care and record condition. Signs of wear include:

• Degraded sound quality (e.g., distortion, sibilance)
• Increased record wear

Replace the stylus with a genuine AudioOrigin replacement stylus to maintain optimal performance. Refer to the "Stylus Installation" section for replacement steps.
